Although his family lived in Alabama, Dr. Frank Brown was born in a little community hospital in Century, Florida. His hometown was right on the Alabama-Florida line, and the closest hospital was in Florida. His father was a railroad clerk. Dr. Brown remembers walking the picket line with his father and his coworkers when the railroad men were out on strike.
